Most construction calculators online do one of two things badly. Either they hide the maths, so you cannot tell whether the answer is sensible, or they bury it in an advert for something else. MyBuildTool is an attempt at the plain version: you put your measurements in, you get quantities out, and you can see every assumption that went into the answer.
Three things follow from that. Assumptions are shown with their source, so you know when a number is a genuine standard and when it is a rule of thumb. Quantities are rounded to what a shop actually sells — tins, boxes, packs — because “6.38 litres” is not a thing you can buy. And we never invent a price: material and labour costs vary far too much by supplier and country for a made-up figure to be anything but misleading.
It is deliberately small. Five calculators, done properly, with the architecture to add more without the quality slipping.
